Power creep is unavoidable because you need to give players incentive to RuneScape gold grind rewards, and the only real way to do so is make those rewards in some manner. OSRS does this quite systematically though by creating market applications and areas for items so there is never a singular finest in slot setup for all content, allowing them to gradually power creep across each of these various avenues instead of constantly upgrading a singular best in slot for all articles.
So true. It is mostly to attribute the RS3 developers how to balance it and literally don’t have any idea what to do in RS3 with PvP. They are like novice amateurs that never dealt with an mmorpg before. It’s quite sad really the OSRS development team is far superior in every way. I like RS3 the upgrade graphics, but the game is hollow and the truth everything is top tier or nothing is just sad. The extreme DPS differences between someone using complete mouse compared to a man trying to make it is insanely different. It’s paradise that is elitist. The EOC system in RS3 isn’t that good and poorly designed, it appears to me that it’s limited to what the outdated engine can deal with. They made it to be compatible with a modified RS2 engine rather than doing what additional MMO developers did that was designing a brand new game engine depending on the combat system they desire.
No amount of balancing and changes will make it attractive to PVP when the largest culprit is that the combat system. Some MMOs have a big pvp scene where people squander hours PVPing for no gain whatsoever since their battle system is fun and engaging whereas RS does all it can to provide GP incentive but nobody is bitig and for great reason.Sure it’s just a tiny step up from the prior old school battle system but it’s simply not that great and still brings the crappy attributes from the old. Those features being long ticks, grid centered positioning, point and click movement and automated trageting that produces combat so clunky and meh in the event that you compared it with most modern MMOs so you will not be getting new players to appreciate it.
Runescape has a player pool. The majority of the OSRS players played in the afternoon. So once you look at somebody who knew rs in 2005 or 2006, or 2004, during the hayday of player inhabitants, should they have to choose, they’ll select a 2007scape game since it is more familiar. RS3 is an entirely different game, with MTX infamy and honestly horrible mish mash of images. RS3 is trying to be something while OSRS adopts its heritage it can not. Old School has outdated art style, the old combat that fits together with the grid/0.6 tick system, whilst RS3 tries to go the activity bar route which demands fluid gameflow, which RS3 just doesn’t have. Also it’s complex and incredibly old. Ever try to jump into osrs equipment buying sites another MMO that has been happening for some time? Test maplestory 2 or TERA. You’ll quickly be overwhelmed with 100 interfaces, exactly like RS3 does. To get a new player, it’s a turn off. That is not even talking about all the jumble players should understand, that’s just the fundamentals.
